| What is the Teen Leader Program
at Positive Choices all about?
The Positive Choices (PC) Teen Leaders and Mentors are a
group of high school and college students that support one
another in making healthy choices. They have mentoring sessions
with younger students to teach them about character and
the benefits of abstinence from pre-marital sex, alcohol,
tobacco and other drugs.
Expectations
Teen leaders will be expected to...
• make a commitment to postponing sexual involvement
and demonstrating sexual self control.
• commit to a pledge of abstinence.
• attend intensive training in curriculum and philosophy
of postponing sexual involvement until marriage.
• attend ongoing leadership training.
• participate as leaders and role models in weekly
sessions with 12-14 year old boys or girls.
• participate as presenters and role models in school
and community settings.
Personal Attributes
Teen leaders should...
• be able to relate well to other teens and demonstrate
leadership skills and verbal skills.
• be a role model for younger teens whose overall
attitude and behavior reflects the message of
abstinence and chastity.
• desire to be involved in teenage pregnancy prevention
activities, especially the Positive Choices
program.
• feel comfortable speaking before a group.
• be able to read and comprehend written material.
Teen Leader Responsibilities
Teen Leaders agree to...
• participate in the training program.
• maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
• be in good standing with school (no suspensions,
etc.).
• present information on sexuality, roles and relationships
to preteens (12-14 year olds) during
weekly group sessions.
• present information on sexuality, roles and relationships
to preteens (12-14 year olds) and peers (15-17 year olds)
during in school presentations.
• perform other related duties to assist the group
leaders.
